This fine new coffee is from Finca La Primavera in the Cundinamarca region of Colombia. This is centrally located in the country and on the western slopes of the Eastern Andes mountain range at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level (5600 ft). It is the varietal Castillo, which is relatively newly developed and is gaining popularity in Colombia since it is highly productive and disease resistant. Coffee varietals are carefully managed to stave off the spread of plant diseases and maintain sufficient levels of production all the while maintaining quality. It is a balancing act and Castillo is seen as an extremely important evolution for coffee in Colombia.

Luckily and probably most importantly for you, this varietal has been winning awards and ranking up there against the top coffees in the world in major competitions.
